The funeral of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, has been completed. The UAE's state news agency, WAM, confirmed the information.

Zayed Al Nahyan was buried in Abu Dhabi's Al Batin Cemetery after Maghrib on Friday (May 13). His funeral prayers were held in secret in every mosque in the emirate before his burial.

Earlier, Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the funeral of his father Khalifa bin Zayed at Abu Dhabi's main mosque. Other members of the late president's family were also present.

Abu Dhabi's ruler Khalifa bin Zayed died on Friday at the age of 83. The death of his president will mark 40 days of state mourning across the country. The national flag will be kept at half-mast. Ministries in the public-private sector, including federal and local level agencies, will remain closed.

Khalifa bin Zayed was born on September 6, 1948. He was the second president of the United Arab Emirates. He has been the President of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004.
